How to sell on Ebay

Quick way to get started using Ebay.

#1Sign up for a Paypal account.
A Paypal premier account (it's free) is preferred over a personal one, that way you can sell and buy with more options. Ebay accepts Paypal as the main source of paying for a product, and it's a simple way to keep track of funds.

#2 Register/sign up for an Ebay account.
If you are into selling a specific type of product, I would recommend using an Ebay name that uniquely and accurately describes what you plan to sell. If you're selling beach items..something like: surf_shop or close2ocean might be a way to show what your products are all about.

#3 Shipping supplies.
It's important to have the right postage and shipping items available for you to send your item to the buyer. USPS has free shipping supplies available at their website, I've found that it's good to use the priority mail envelopes to ship out DVD's and video games. The stamps are $4.95. They'll send you free priority mail boxes and envelopes, but the boxes must be weighed before shipping.

#4 Camera.
While it's not required, a good camera comes in handy when showing what you plan to sell. If you enter the serial number that is on the back of a DVD, video game, book, etc. Ebay will give you a stock photo of the product. However, it is most likely you will need to have a quality camera ready to take photos of the item(s) you wish to sell. Be sure it's not too blurry or the flash is too bright.

#5 Research your product.
Find out as much as you can about the item you are selling. It's good to research and know the details of your item, and perhaps look at others who are selling the same thing. How do they describe it? Is there a reason theirs has more bids? Could you be selling your product for too low/high a price? It won't take long before you understand how to do this, it's just a little complicated in the beginning.

#6 Acquire as much positive feedback as possible.
Feedback is a way buyers and sellers show trust. You build a reputation through positive, neutral, or negative feedback and comments from others. If you sell a product and it arrives just as described and on time, you will most likely get positive feedback from the buyer. If the item ends up to the buyer damaged or different than described, you'll most likely get negative or neutral feedback. The more positive feedback you have, the more buyers you're likely to have. When you're first starting out however, you'll have (0) feedback. If you want instant positive feedback, type in the Ebay search bar: 100% positive feedback. You'll spend around $0.01-$2.00 to buy shmozitive smeedback ;-). Though this is just a suggestion for begginers. Once you sell products, you'll have feedback in no time.
